So, the situation my wife and I have is this -
We are about to apply for ILR for my wife using the online SET (M) form (her current visa expires on the 19th of this month).
My wife will need to apply under Category B for the financial requirement, as she has had her current unsalaried job for less than 6 months.
I am self-employed and will be using Category G as this gives the best income for me.
Unfortunately, neither of our incomes would meet the minimum financial requirement alone, so we will need to combine our incomes.
The problem is that as I understand it, our time periods must match, but her time period for category B (12 months prior to the date of application) and my time period for category G (last two full financial years, i.e April 2018 to April 2020), only overlap by a few months.
There doesn't seem to be any flexibility afforded for the combination of these two categories, and we really aren't quite sure what to do!
If we take our combined incomes for any one of these periods of time, they do satisfy the minimum requirement.
We have run out of ideas as to a solution, other than applying with category B and category G, despite that seeming inappropriate/destined to fail, and including an additional letter appealing for clemency and pointing out that our combined incomes for any one of the given time periods would satisfy the minimum financial requirement.
If you have any advice or suggestions we would be immensely grateful.
My second question, regards the online form, SET (M) - we have filled it all out and reached the point of making payment and submitting it, but at no point so far have we been asked which categories we will be using to meet the financial requirements, nor have I ever been able to enter any information regarding self-employment etc. Have we missed something, or is this information submitted elsewhere/later?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Rupert Lees
